Lately Bryon has been admiring gabion walls. Gabion walls are a unique element to bring into your landscape design, well-suited anywhere you'd normally think to put a retaining wall or fixed wall. Gabion walls are made by filling large galvanized steel baskets with rock - they are free-draining and quite cost effective as structural walls go. The structure itself is also very flexible in that it can withstand pressure without changing form or cracking as concrete and other materials can often do. Here are a few more examples!
They can also be used as fencing!
We love that they are so versatile and have a clean, modern look... hopefully one of these days we'll be able to implement a gabian wall on a project. And if you give it a try, please share your end result with us! :)
